Aptly named ‘The Shadow House’, this Richmond pad from the Art Deco period makes a big impact with its minimalist palette.

The white render finish to the front façade is offset by black steel cladding to the roof and rear, creating a unique monochrome look. A compact hardwood outdoor deck provides a private oasis for entertaining and connects effortlessly to the indoors. The striking spotted gum floor and matching staircase are standout features of the internal space.

They are enhanced by natural light from the floor-to-ceiling windows and a full-length glass roof, which traverses the upstairs bedroom and bathroom. Other highlights include hydronic heating, oversized aluminium sliding door suites, plus integrated appliances to maximise space. Extensive use of natural finishes and recycled materials help preserve the historic integrity of this inner city house, while giving it a modern twist.
