Powlett Street

Powlett Street

This project is an example of a restrained transformation to a Victorian terrace. The property is located in East Melbourne, within walking distance to the MCG and Melbourne surrounds.

With a goal to maximise space and light, the design solution involved removing the worn internals of the house and refreshing it with a simple, coherent colour palate. Structurally, select walls were removed to increase functionality. Reflective surfaces, mirrors and natural timbers were then incorporated to enhance the feeling of space.

A pod style ensuite in the first floor master bedroom provides a modern touch to this period home, while a new contemporary light-filled carport increases its external appeal. Russian birch joinery, a cast concrete cantilevered bbq, exposed brick walls and a fully restored front masonry façade complete the picture-perfect look.
